Unbelievable

So, yesterday I got my subpoena for what I thought was the sentencing for the guy who pleaded guilty for breaking into my house this past summer. Today I got a letter from the prosecutor saying the guy had hired a lawyer and decided not to plead guilty after all. So instead of a sentencing I have to go to his trial. Ugh! I was just looking forward to getting closure on this. And while I am sure there is more than enough evidence to convict him, like the fact that they found some of the stolen property from the houses he'd broken into, even the mere possibility that this creep might be found not guilty and be back on the streets makes me nervous. Especially because he was charged with 4 counts of Displaying a Firearm in the commission of a Felony and also one count of Breaking and Entering with Intent to Rob/Rape/Murder while he was out on bond after being arrested for breaking into my house, 3 other houses and a car. I am just wondering what made him change his mind about pleading guilty. I'd assumed he was pleading guilty to the "lesser" 9 felonies so he could focus his defense on the more serious offenses, since he could get life in prison for the firearms charges. Hopefully it will be a short trial and they will convict him quickly and I can just totally put this behind me.
